UPDATED: Veteran artist-producer DJ David Guetta has entered into a career- agreement with Warner Music that sees the company acquiring his recorded-music catalog from the last two decades, as well as striking a new deal for future recordings. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and a rep for Warner Music steadfastly declined comment.

Ackman Music Deal Spurs Pushback From Vivendi Shareholder

Vivendi SE shareholder Artisan Partners is opposing the company’s plan to sell bits of its prized asset, Universal Music Group, including a proposed deal with a blank-check firm backed by billionaire Bill Ackman.

Mass Appeal Records, co-owned by Nas, inks deal with The Orchard

Sony Music‘s The Orchard has inked a strategic partnership with Mass Appeal Records, one of the best known independent labels in hip-hop.

The agreement marks another aggressive deal in the US hip-hop space for Sony Music, following its acquisition of J Erving’s Human Re-Sources in December.

Mass Appeal Records is co-owned by rap legend Nas, who will release his own new material via The Orchard as a result of the deal.

The news comes off the back of a big year for Nas, who recently won his first ever Grammy for Best Rap Album for his latest LP, King’s Disease
