Giant projection structure collapses, second rapper arrested ahead of Rolling Loud music festival

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A giant video wall collapsed at Hard Rock Stadium and a rapper who was scheduled to perform was arrested — one day before the start of this weekend’s Rolling Loud music festival in Miami Gardens.

According to festival organizers, no one was injured due to the collapse, and the show will go on as planned. The video structure collapsed over what appears to be a stage.

At around 6 p.m., festival organizers were seen covering the structure in a giant black tarp. Around the same time, Rolling Loud released the following statement on Twitter:

“In case you see it on the news, a screen fell down at one of our stages. Nobody was hurt and it will be fixed before doors open tomorrow. The show goes on!”

Friday morning, the video wall remained on the ground.

As of 1 p.m., Friday, no official word had been said on what exactly caused the structure to collapse.

Rappers arrested

Unrelated to the collapse of the video wall, a rapper who was scheduled to perform at the festival this weekend has been arrested.

On Thursday, 25-year-old rapper Fredo Bang, whose real name is Frederick Givens II, was arrested in Miami for a parole violation out of his home state of Louisiana.

Givens was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His roommate and fellow rapper Lit Yoshi, whose real name is Mieyoshi Edwards, was also arrested Thursday on a Louisiana warrant.

Givens will be the second rapper who was set to perform that has been arrested prior to the start of the event.

On July 15, rapper SpotemGottem was arrested in an Aventura hotel room after an investigation into an incident that happened in June in Miami Beach.

The hip-hop music festival is back for the first time in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will span three days, with headliner acts including A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Post Malone, and even a rumored surprise performance by Kanye West.

Tickets are already sold out, and South Florida is preparing for tens of thousands of fans to come in from across the country for the event.
