ABQ BioPark welcomes late night guests and live music

For the first time since 2019 live music is back at the Albuquerque Biopark Zoo. People Saturday night came ready with their picnics packed, lawn chairs in hand ready to enjoy an evening at the zoo.The ABQ Biopark Guest Experience Manager, ​Allyson Zahm said “It’s a totally different experience that you would get on the day. I love the vibe. It’s so family friendly and casual and then the music just kind of makes everything a little bit more fun.”People of all ages simply enjoy being outside with nature and music. One day and his kids were happy to be back he said “I got the littles and they love to dance.”After a tough year like 2020, things are getting back to normal.Zahm said “To have concerts going again during the summer feels so normal. It’s like we’re being our family back you know for something that’s such a special tradition for so many families.”Zoo Nights is a happy welcome for New Mexicans. “What makes it special? Just the music itself, I like music,” Lawrence Kewanwytewa said.He added “Getting back out with the public is great, you always meet somebody. It’s always one of those opportunities that you can always make friends.”And that social interaction, even more important for New Mexico kids. One dad said “It’s big for her because she’s only 3. So, really that developmental stage of getting out and doing stuff she missed the whole first year of that.”After more than a year of not being able to see the roaming animals. Now everyone can see them. Zahm said “For so many people the Park is just like the symbol right. Like now that it’s fully open it’s like everything is kind of normal and it’s like everything is gonna be OK.”
